Position Overview

The Nexus Water Group is seeking a Project Controls Manager responsible for project-level controls, managing scheduling staff, and coordinating with project managers to monitor budgets and schedules for water and wastewater projects.

Location and Schedule

Primarily based in Charlotte, NC, with some travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, retain, and lead project controls staff
  • Develop KPIs to monitor department performance
  • Ensure accuracy of financial information and maintain cash flow data
  • Create and monitor internal controls for compliance
  • Manage project budgets, scheduling, change management, and cost control functions
  • Oversee project deviations and recommend resolutions
  • Support project financial management and reporting
  • Coordinate contract work and correct income and equipment cost errors
  • Conduct cost variance analysis using PMI Earned Value Measurement
  • Plan strategic initiatives and ensure accurate data collection
  • Develop leadership within the project controls team for future growth
  • Assist in forecasting and planning capital projects up to 5 years ahead
  • Participate in project team meetings and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling experience in a field office, or 10+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, finance, or accounting
  • Familiarity with project administration software and processes
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
  • MS or MBA preferred
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Oracle Fusion Platform
  • Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
Work Environment
  • Light office activity, travel up to 25%
