Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Vancouver, WA. The role involves applying standard engineering techniques, assisting lead engineers, and updating designs across market segments.

Responsibilities vary by market and may include construction phase services, safety support, and project management. The internship emphasizes growth, leadership, and a foundation in engineering fundamentals, with opportunities for hands-on experience in construction projects and related consulting

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program required.
• Or, currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department required.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead engineers with project duties and update designs.
• Perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Support safety, health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations and project management in construction market.
