CDM Smith is seeking a driven Project Controls Specialist Student to gain immersive, real-world experience in cost and schedule baselines, earned value management, and financial forecasting. Under supervision, you will support the project delivery team, gather progress data, and help maintain integrated schedules for basic projects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled and taking courses towards a Masters degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports the project delivery team by developing basic cost and schedule baselines.
• Collects and analyzes monthly cost and schedule progress, identifies variances for basic projects; updates risk reserves and forecasts; reports information to leads/managers.
• Supports implementation of financial controls, procedures, systems and forecasting techniques.
• Interfaces with project team and management.
• Follows all safety programs.
• Gathers project progress information to update and monitor basic projects.
• Evaluates and updates schedule dates, percent complete, resource requirements, and project accruals.
• Develops time-phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs; updates requirements.
• Monitors progress of project deliverables.
• Performs performance reporting using Earned Value Management.
• Conducts basic financial analyses including variance and risk analyses.
• Documents and assesses impact of project changes on cost/schedule baselines.
• Develops project planning considerations for basic projects.
• Maintains and analyzes integrated critical path schedules for portions of routine projects.
• Raises early warning signals to project manager.
• Generates earned value reports and discusses observations with supervisor.
