Job summary

HITACHI RAIL is seeking a Project Controller to join the Pittsburgh, PA team. You will support project finance, budgeting, and forecasting, partner with project teams, and oversee cash flow, invoicing, and Change Orders in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 3-4 years of controller experience, SAP CO proficiency, and strong MS Excel skills. A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business is expected; English proficiency is essential for multinational collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience as Controller or similar role.
• Experience in Project Controlling and Contract Management, such as customer contract analysis, commenting contracts, project cost and margin analysis and/or project cost calculations.
• Experience in revenue recognition and understanding how the free-cash-flow of the company is composed / can be further improved.
• Knowledge on claim management, forecasting the main variances to analyze and predict the closing results of the projects themselves.
• Knowledge of Project Management basis.
• Experience with SAP (especially CO) is highly desirable.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office (focus on Excel and Outlook).
• Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy and ability to multitask.
• Have a real passion and enthusiasm for deal management in complex project.

Responsibilities

• Develop the Work Breakdown Structure and Budgets for the project in collaboration with the Project Team.
• Develop accurate cost to complete estimates and percent complete evaluations with Work Package Leaders.
• Track and report planned budgets/forecast vs actual spend using project controlling tools.
• Provide variance explanations and recovery plan actions.
• Review latest schedule with Project Planner and report Earned Value.
• Prepare monthly project result reporting.
• Assist with contract Change Orders and potential claims tracking.
• Track invoicing and cash flow position for the project.
• Coordinate with global controllers for intracompany projects.
• Review and approve Purchase Order Requisitions and track POs in PCS.
• Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting for KPIs.
• Monitor financial health of the project and flag negative impacts.
