Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Project Controls Specialist (Cost Controls & SAP) in Randolph, VA, for a 4-month contract. This onsite full-time role supports project managers with cost controls, POs/COs, and detailed financial tracking across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include SAP cost reporting, monthly forecasts, and closeout activities, with emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and timely financial insights. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in project controls, cost controls, and project finance.
• Experience on capital projects in utilities, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or EPC environments.
• Proficiency with SAP for project financial management.
• MS Excel, Word, Outlook proficiency.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with cost controls throughout the project lifecycle.
• Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) and Change Orders (COs).
• Track project budgets, forecasts, invoices, accruals, and expenditures.
• Generate and analyze SAP cost reports, identifying cost variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly project cost forecasts and financial reports.
• Support project closeout activities, including financial reconciliation and asset documentation.
• Maintain project records, financial documentation, and compliance with company procedures.
• Assist with capital budget planning, procurement tracking, and audit documentation.

Location: Randolph, VA (Onsite)

Duration: 4-Month Contract

Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week with occasional overtime)
