Job summary

Airswift seeks a Project Controls Engineer to lead scheduling, cost control, and forecasting for a major Blue Ammonia development on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The role collaborates with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management teams across FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning phases. You will establish baselines, manage EVM processes, generate performance dashboards, and provide decision-support to keep the project on schedule and within budget in a dynamic energy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • 8–15+ years of project controls, planning, scheduling, cost control, or project management experience on major industrial, petrochemical, LNG, energy, EPC, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting projects through FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of cost control, forecasting, earned value management, schedule analysis, and project reporting.
  • Experience working with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting hydrogen, ammonia, LNG, petrochemical, natural gas, power, CCUS, or other major industrial developments is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and project controls best practices.
  • Establish schedule baselines, monitor critical path activities, and support schedule forecasting and recovery planning.
  • Support project cost control activities, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and EAC development.
  • Track project progress across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning activities.
  • Prepare project controls reports, dashboards, management presentations, and performance summaries.
  • Support earned value management (EVM), productivity monitoring, and project performance analysis.
  • Monitor project risks, changes, and potential schedule or cost impacts.
  • Review contractor schedules, progress reports, forecasts, and recovery plans.
  • Partner with Development, Engineering, Commercial, Procurement, and Project Management teams to support project execution and decision-making.

Job description

We are partnering with an innovative clean energy developer focused on advancing ultra-low-carbon energy solutions and supporting industrial decarbonization. The organization is currently progressing a large-scale Blue Ammonia project on the U.S. Gulf Coast and is transitioning from development into FEED execution. This is a unique opportunity to join the owner's team at a critical stage of the project lifecycle and help shape project planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and project execution strategy from the ground up.

About the Role

The Project Controls Engineer / Specialist will be responsible for planning, scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, forecasting, performance monitoring, and reporting for a major Blue Ammonia development project. This individual will work closely with Engineering, Development, Procurement, Commercial, Construction, and Project Management teams to establish project controls processes, maintain accurate schedules and cost forecasts, identify risks and deviations, and support project decision-making throughout FEED, development, construction, and commissioning activities.

Location
  • Houston, TX
  • Regular onsite collaboration with project leadership and development teams
  • Travel to project sites and contractor locations as required
  • Primary Project Site: Lake Charles, LA area
  • Secondary Project Location: Port Arthur, TX area
