ZAPATA Group, Inc (ZAPATA) is seeking a Project Billing Accountant in Charlotte, NC to manage project setup, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting for both commercial and government-funded projects.

The role requires strong Excel skills, familiarity with government contracting, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely project financials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8 years of accounting or project accounting experience.
• Familiarity with government contracting and FAR-allowable cost principles preferred.
• Exposure to WIP, revenue recognition, and contract administration preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting system, including budgets and cost structures.
• Prepare and process project billings for time & materials and fixed-price contracts.
• Track project costs such as labor, subcontracts, direct expenses, and overhead.
• Support revenue recognition and work in progress (WIP) reporting.
• Maintain organized project and contract financial records for audit readiness.
