The Project Architect manages a design team, coordinates with consultants, supports feasibility studies and specifications, participates in bidding, and provides construction administration support. This position offers significant autonomy, direct interaction with owners and contractors, and the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of project types while working in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a design team through schematic design, design development, and construction document phases.
• Perform detailed technical reviews of drawings and specifications to ensure quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
• Solicit, coordinate, and facilitate execution of consultant proposals as required for each project.
• Review and interpret the Owner-Architect Agreement to understand the scope of basic services and identify items considered additional services.
• Participate as part of the project team in interviews and presentations for new projects.
• Attend and represent the firm at meetings with owners, contractors, construction managers, and agencies during design and construction.
• Attend evening meetings as required, including school board meetings, land development meetings, and zoning meetings.
• Attend and/or lead construction document meetings and prepare clear, accurate meeting minutes.
• Meet regularly with consultants (such as MEP, structural, and civil) to coordinate project requirements and maintain project schedules.
• Oversee and contribute to the preparation of working drawings, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents, in collaboration with a support team and the specification writer.
• Coordinate and review project specifications to align with drawings and design intent.
• Review, coordinate, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and change directives during design and construction.
• Support construction administration activities, including RFI and submittal review, field coordination, and issue resolution.
• Interpret and explain building codes and evaluate LEED applicability as it relates to project design and documentation.
• Conduct building code analysis and ensure compliance throughout the design process.
• Provide construction administration support, including QA/QC review of documents and coordination with the project team.
• Communicate clearly in both oral and written form, including speaking effectively in public and presenting to stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with owners, contractors, consultants, and internal team members.
• Act as a self-starter, working independently while effectively managing tasks, schedules, and project priorities.
• Contribute to quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) processes to maintain high standards across all project deliverables.

Essential Skills

• Five-year professional architectural degree from an accredited college or university.
• Registered Architect licensure.
• Minimum of five to ten years of professional architectural experience.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit for architectural design, documentation, and coordination.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, communication, and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with schematic design, design development, and construction document production.
• Strong experience in construction drawings, construction administration, and coordination with project stakeholders.
• Experience with building code analysis and compliance.
• Ability to interpret and apply construction codes and assess LEED applicability.
• Experience with consultant coordination, including MEP, structural, and civil disciplines.
• Proven ability to perform quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) reviews of drawings and specifications.
• Experience with specification coordination and collaboration with a specification writer.
• Experience reviewing and responding to RFIs and submittals.
• Strong technical design skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms, including public speaking.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

• Experience with Revit architecture workflows, technical design, and coordination of multi-discipline models.

Work Environment

This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with in-office presence required on Mondays and Thursdays and remote work on other days, providing a balance of collaboration and flexibility. The position is based in the Harrisburg, PA office and involves frequent interaction with project managers, architects, consultants, owners, and contractors, creating a highly collaborative and communicative environment. Team members work extensively with Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office applications, and regularly engage in consultant coordination, QA/QC review, specification coordination, and construction administration support. The work includes both daytime and occasional evening commitments for meetings such as school board, land development, and zoning sessions. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Health Benefits Multiple medical plan options are available, including: PPO plans with deductibles ranging from $500 to $1,650 per individual. HSA-compatible plans with deductibles of $1,000 and $3,000 per individual. Dental and vision coverage are included with the benefit elections. Employees who waive company health insurance are eligible for a $1,000 annual healthcare bonus. 401(k) Retirement Plan Employer contribution is the lesser of: 10% of the employee's annual contribution, or 1% of the employee's annual salary. Paid Holidays Nine paid holidays annually, including: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Day After Thanksgiving Christmas Day Two Floating/Personal Holidays that can be used throughout the year with supervisor approval. Vacation Time New employees accrue vacation at one day per month after two months of full-time employment, providing up to 10 days during the first year. Employees with 5+ years of service receive increased vacation based on tenure, with schedules showing growth up to approximately 15 days per year depending on role and years of service. Sick Leave Sick leave varies by employee classification and tenure: Support Staff/Hourly employees begin with 2 days and increase with service. Professional/Admin/Sales employees begin with 3 days and increase over time. Executive employees receive higher sick leave allowances, increasing with tenure.
