Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas to perform this role safely and effectively:

  • Graduate degree in Archaeology
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist
  • Experience in archaeological monitoring, including observation of construction excavation activities to identify, recover, and document archaeological information or materials related to the construction of C157 and associated activities.
  • Ability to prepare detailed daily reports describing monitoring results in a professional manner.
  • Understanding of project specifications regarding cultural resource requirements.
  • Coordination with government agencies regarding findings and recommendations.
  • Adherence to fieldwork methodologies outlined in the Arkansas State Plan Appendices B for cultural resource fieldwork and report writing (revised January 01, 2010).
Responsibilities
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Handle objects weighing around 25 pounds and perform heavy physical effort.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, and crawl, and tolerate heights without fear.
  • Maintain balance and work long hours in extreme weather conditions, including cold and wet environments.
  • Work long, irregular hours, typically 50 to 70 hours per week.
  • Maintain punctuality and adhere to safety and productivity standards as per ADA, FMLA, and other regulations.
