Qualifications

Must possess competence in the following areas in order to perform this role in a safe, productive and effective manner:

  • Graduate degree in Archaeology
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring (defined as observation of construction excavation activities by qualified archaeologists in order to identify, recover, protect and/or document archaeological information or materials of the construction of C157 (and any associated construction activities).
  • Prepare a detailed daily report which describes the results of the archaeological monitoring in a professional cultural resource report.
  • Understand project specifications regarding cultural resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with Government employees any findings and recommendations.
  • All fieldwork methodology associated with horizontal/vertical site delineation/recordation, testing and/or mitigation must follow the requirements for reporting and fieldwork outlined in the Arkansas State Plan Appendices B: Guidelines for Cultural Resources Fieldwork and Report Writing in Arkansas revised January 01, 2010 (State Plan).
Responsibilities
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field, and 3 years of experience.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl.
  • Ability to tolerate heights without fear.
  • Ability to maintain balance.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, reach for, handle, and manipulate items and to work in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet).
  • Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, 50 to 70 hours per week.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
