SECTOR OVERVIEW

Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil - gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC is seeking an on-call Architectural Historian / Senior Archeologist for Cultural Resources reporting to our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This is to support our Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice. Physical presence in Albuquerque is not required.


Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS:

  • The position will work with other environmental and cultural resources staff to further develop TRC’s cultural resource program in New Mexico and surrounding region.
  • Technical work may include a wide range of projects including renewable work, oil and gas development, electric transmission and generation, natural gas or liquid pipelines, mining, and state or federal transportation projects.
  • This is an as-needed advisory and review position not to exceed 10 hours per week.
  • We are seeking an individual exceptionally experienced in cultural resource management and historic preservation with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in history, architectural history, historic preservation, architecture, or closely related field
  • 20 or more years' experience of progressive experience in architectural history of New Mexico and the surrounding region
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental review processes, and compliance requirements (e.g., Section 106 and State Register Act)

SPECIFIC PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Meet the Secretary of Interior-s Professional Qualifications for History, Architectural History, or Historic Architecture
  • Previous project experience working on federal (e.g., BLM, USFS, NPS) and state lands (e.g., NMSLO)
  • Regional experience that would allow for immediate permitting with the local offices of federal agencies (e.g. BLM, USFS, BIA, etc.)
  • In addition to New Mexico, previous experience that would lead to permitting in following states is preferable: CO, UT, AZ, NV, TX
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, peer-reviewing, public speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets and producing high quality reports

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
