HBC Engineering Company, a Florida-based engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Accountant to support project billing, A/P and A/R, payroll coordination, and financial reporting. The role collaborates with project managers and leadership across multiple projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 2+ years of accounting experience (preferably in engineering or government contracting), and familiarity with project-based and cost accounting, including FAR

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience; preferred in engineering, architecture, construction, or government contracting.
• Familiarity with project-based accounting, cost accounting, and multi-phase billing.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and client billing.
• Prepare and process project invoices in coordination with project managers.
• Support payroll processing and coordinate with HR on time-tracking, benefits deductions, and labor cost allocations.
• Maintain general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Assist with financial statements, budget reports, cash flow analyses, and management summaries.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures, flag variances, and support leadership reporting.
• Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements including FAR overhead calculations and indirect cost tracking.
• Coordinate with external auditors, CPAs, and tax preparers as needed.
• Maintain organized financial records in line with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify process improvements and support accounting best practices as the firm scales.
