Job summary

CPL is seeking a Project Accountant to manage the full project accounting lifecycle from setup to closeout. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting while partnering with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership to ensure accuracy and profitability.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of project accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of project accounting experience.
• Experience managing projects through full life cycle, from setup to closeout.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting system and ensure accurate financial data.
• Review contracts and project terms for compliance with policies and customer agreements.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
• Monitor project performance, costs, revenue, and profitability.
• Prepare and process customer billings per contract terms.
• Manage revenue recognition and ensure accounting standards compliance.
• Track accounts receivable and support collections efforts.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Process project modifications, change orders, and contract amendments.
• Perform project closeout activities, including final billing and reconciliations.
• Support audits as needed.
