Job summary

CPL is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee the full project accounting lifecycle—from setup to closeout. You will manage budgeting, billing, revenue recognition, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure contractual compliance.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership to monitor project profitability and financial integrity, leveraging advanced Excel and ERP systems to drive accurate, timely insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• 3+ years of project accounting experience.
• Experience managing projects from setup to closeout.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, billing, and revenue recognition knowledge.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel.
• Analytical, organized, and good communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting system and ensure accurate financial data.
• Review contracts and project terms for compliance with policies and agreements.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
• Monitor project performance, costs, revenue, and profitability.
• Prepare and process customer billings per contract terms.
• Manage revenue recognition and accounting standards compliance.
• Track accounts receivable and support collections.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Process project modifications, change orders, and amendments.
• Perform project closeout activities including final billing and reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.
