Job summary

CPL is seeking a Project Accountant to manage the full project accounting lifecycle, from setup to closeout, ensuring accurate budgeting, billing, revenue recognition, forecasting, and reporting. You will partner with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership to drive profitability and maintain financial integrity.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contract review, revenue recognition, monthly reporting, and audit support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting/finance/related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of project accounting experience.
• Experience managing projects through the full life cycle from setup to closeout.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting system with accurate financial data.
• Review contracts and project terms for policy/compliance alignment.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
• Monitor project performance, costs, revenue, and profitability.
• Prepare and process customer billings per contract terms.
• Manage revenue recognition and ensure accounting standards compliance.
• Track accounts receivable and support collections.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify risks and opportunities.
• Process project changes and closeout activities including final billing.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.
