Job summary

CPL is seeking a Project Accountant to manage the full project accounting lifecycle, from setup to closeout, ensuring accurate budgeting, billing, revenue recognition, forecasting, and reporting. You will partner with Project Managers and Finance leadership to monitor financial performance and drive profitability while maintaining compliance with contracts and accounting standards.

You will set up projects, review terms, develop budgets, track costs, process billings, and support audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of project accounting experience.
• Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects in the accounting system and ensure accurate financial data.
• Review contracts and project terms for policy and customer compliance.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
• Monitor project performance, costs, revenue, and profitability.
• Prepare and process customer billings according to contract terms.
• Manage revenue recognition and ensure accounting standards compliance.
• Track accounts receivable and support collections efforts.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Process project modifications, change orders, and contract amendments.
• Perform project closeout activities, including final billing and reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.
