Job summary

Commercial Contractor in Beltsville, MD is seeking a Project Accountant to join our collaborative accounting team. You’ll manage project financials from setup through billing and collections, helping keep budgets and invoicing accurate.

You’ll work closely with the Controller and accounting staff to ensure timely billing, strong cash flow, and organized project records across a portfolio of roughly 30 projects. Growth potential is available within the team.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of accounting experience, including exposure to project-based accounting.
• Construction industry experience is a plus; project accounting in other industries will be considered.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to reviewing financial information.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

Responsibilities

• Support a portfolio of approximately 30 projects, along with smaller jobs, from initial setup through ongoing billing and collections.
• Set up projects in the accounting system and review project information for accuracy.
• Prepare and manage project billing and serve as the primary contact for billing and collection inquiries.
• Coordinate project invoices, accounts payable items, and certificates of insurance.
• Review incoming documentation for completeness and accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and follow up on missing information.
• Work closely with the Controller and accounting team to keep project financial activity organized and up to date.
