Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an Accountant to oversee the assigned department’s internal accounting and reporting functions in Facilities Operations & Planning. You will assist management with budget formulation and monitoring, ensuring funds availability and policy compliance.

Key duties include preparing balance sheets and financial reports, analyzing trends, reconciling accounts, and supporting project accounting for capital initiatives with strong Excel and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Ability to prepare financial records and interpret accounting data.
• Proficiency with Excel and MS Office; high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, and obligations to forecast finances.
• Reconciles expenditure and revenue accounts and verifies journal vouchers.
• Reviews reimbursements, requisitions, and purchase orders for accuracy.
• Supports fiscal year end processes and project accounting for capital projects.
