Job summary

Lerch Bates is seeking a Project Accountant to partner with project teams, manage project financials, and ensure accurate billing and closeout processes. You’ll translate data into actionable insights and support cash flow for diverse consulting projects.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in accounting/finance and at least 2 years of project accounting experience, with proficiency in major ERP systems. This role emphasizes process improvement and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience in project-based work.
Experience with ERP/accounting software such as Deltek Vantagepoint/ Vision, MS Dynamics, Oracle or SAP.

Responsibilities

Create, modify, and maintain project records within the accounting system.
Review contracts, proposals, purchase orders, and Notices to Proceed for accurate setup.
Monitor budgets, WIP, unbilled revenue, and project profitability.
Prepare monthly project financial reports and assist with forecasting.
Process client invoices, manage billing terms, and monitor subconsultant charges.
Support month-end close and respond to audit documentation requests.
Collaborate with teams to improve processes and maintain client relationships.
