Job summary

Addison Group, a NYC-based construction firm, seeks a Project Accountant to join an established finance team. The role focuses on the monthly billing cycle, client invoicing, and cost reconciliation for multiple projects.

You will collaborate with project managers and an international team to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely payments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in project accounting, Deltek Vantagepoint experience, advanced Excel skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint required.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, client billing and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly billing cycle for a portfolio of client projects.
• Generate, review, and distribute client invoices per contracts and schedules.
• Review consultant expenses, vendor invoices, and reimbursable costs with project managers.
• Process consultant invoices with required documentation per guidelines.
• Monitor compliance with client billing and expense procedures.
• Coordinate invoicing for international projects with Paris-based team.
• Oversee project financial performance and profitability.
• Review project financials and investigate budget variances.
• Work with project managers to address financial concerns and resolve issues.
• Track unbilled fees, remaining budgets, and opportunities for additional revenue.
• Assist leadership with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Identify improvements to accounting procedures and controls.
• Manage accounts receivable and collect overdue balances.
• Coordinate collections with Finance Director and CFO.
• Prepare client account statements and address invoice questions.
• Communicate with consultants to obtain invoices and approvals.
• Maintain regular follow-up on overdue receivables.
• Establish new project accounts in the accounting system.
• Maintain accurate project records and numbering conventions.
• Provide additional accounting support as needed.
