Job description

LHH is working with a client in the construction industry that is looking for a Project Accountant. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of ongoing projects. This includes monitoring variances, processing expenses, and ensuring timely billing and payment collection from clients. Additionally, the Project Accountant may assist with best practices initiatives to streamline project-related information flow.

This position pays 75K-80K+Bonus and offers an opportunity to work for a great family oriented culture.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and track project budgets, conducting regular budget reviews to ensure projects remain on track financially.
• Create and maintain project budgets within the accounting system, including contract updates and change order entries.
• Generate accurate and timely AIA construction billing for clients, including lump sum and GMP billing, ensuring full compliance.
• Perform detailed monthly job cost reconciliations to maintain accurate and up-to-date project financial records.
• Analyze project costs, resolve billing discrepancies, and troubleshoot and improve processes as needed.
• Prepare and compile necessary information for external audits.
• Manage routine collections to ensure timely receipt of accounts receivable.
• Take on additional tasks to support the team as needed.
• Assist the management team with projects and initiatives as they arise, including contributing to the improvement of processes and procedures for greater efficiency.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or engineering is preferred, with a strong understanding of project contracts and change order documents.
• At least 2 years of experience in construction accounting preferred.
• Experience with Vista software is a plus.
• Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
• Experience setting up AIA formatted pay applications in the accounting system.
• Relevant experience in accounting or finance, especially in project accounting.
