Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an Associate Project Accountant to support a construction project team. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain project ledgers, and prepare month-end postings and allocations.

The role emphasizes timely invoicing, forecasting, and collaboration with project management to manage risk. Ideal candidates have a finance degree and 1–3 years in project accounting, with strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance preferred.
  • 1–3 years of project accounting experience preferred.
  • Basic accounting knowledge required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing for a project.
  • Maintain project-related ledger accounts and month-end postings.
  • Disseminate month-end project reports to management.
  • Maintain month-end deadlines and forecast profit and cash flow.
  • Review forecasts and resolve basic project accounting issues.
  • Maintain project register and manage AP/AR tasks for the project.

Job description

TheAssociate Project Accountantis assignedto a smallerconstruction project(s) and partners with the Project Management teamtoassuretimelyandaccurateaccounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle

  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing pertaining to a particular project. Maintains project-related ledger accounts.
  • Disseminates month-end project reports to management and relevant business lines.
  • Maintains list of month-end deadlines and ensure that profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and accurately.
  • Reviews project forecasts on a regular basis and ensure any outstanding matters are dealt with on a timely basis.
  • Maintains project register. Prepares month-end posting/ allocations and accruals. Controls the accounts payable and receivable tasks for the project.
  • Identifies and assists with the resolution of basic project-related accounting issues.
  • Ensures policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance preferred
  • 1-3 years’ of project accounting experience preferred

Pay:Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $67,910.00 - $80,257.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
