Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an Associate Project Accountant to support a smaller construction project(s) alongside the Project Management team, ensuring timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

The role focuses on accurate reporting, timely invoicing, maintaining project ledgers, and supporting month-end close activities with attention to detail and confidentiality across the project team in a dynamic, employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance preferred
  • 1-3 years’ of project accounting experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing pertaining to a particular project.
  • Maintains project-related ledger accounts.
  • Disseminates month-end project reports to management and relevant business lines.
  • Maintains list of month-end deadlines and ensures forecasts are prepared on time.
  • Reviews project forecasts and resolves outstanding matters promptly.
  • Maintains project register; prepares month-end postings/allocations and accruals.
  • Controls accounts payable and receivable tasks for the project.
  • Identifies and assists with resolution of basic project-related accounting issues.
  • Ensures policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.

Position Summary

Position Details
  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing pertaining to a particular project. Maintains project-related ledger accounts.

  • Disseminates month-end project reports to management and relevant business lines.

  • Maintains list of month-end deadlines and ensure that profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and accurately.

  • Reviews project forecasts on a regular basis and ensure any outstanding matters are dealt with on a timely basis.

  • Maintains project register. Prepares month-end posting/ allocations and accruals. Controls the accounts payable and receivable tasks for the project.

  • Identifies and assists with the resolution of basic project-related accounting issues.

  • Ensures policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $67,910.00 - $80,257.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.

Contingent Employment

All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential job duty will be required to have a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). We are not able to offer sponsorship of employment at this time.
