Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing for a major project and several smaller ones, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

The role emphasizes analyzing costs, managing vendor compliance, lien waivers, insurance and W-9s, and producing profitability reports and status updates using COINs and standard MS Office tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Perform financial analysis and reconcile project costs versus budget.

Position Summary

The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

Position Details

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years’ of project accounting experience preferred

Pay:

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $82,171.00 - $97,111.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
