Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to support a smaller construction project by partnering with the Project Management team to ensure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, month-end close activities, forecast reviews, and maintaining project ledgers, with emphasis on controls for accounts payable/receivable and adherence to project accounting policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ of project accounting experience preferred.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Good organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Able to analyze and resolve basic issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • MS Word, Excel, Power Point proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing for the project.
  • Disseminate month-end project reports to management and business lines.
  • Maintain calendar of month-end deadlines and ensure that profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and accurately.
  • Review project forecasts on a regular basis and ensure any outstanding matters are dealt with on a timely basis.
  • Maintain project register and prepare month-end postings and accruals; control accounts payable and receivable tasks for the project.
  • Identify and assist with the resolution of basic project-related accounting issues.
  • Ensure policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.

Pay

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $67,910.00 - $80,257.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
