Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented project accounting professional in New Jersey to prepare and manage client invoices in line with contracts and schedules.

You will support collections, project budgeting and accounting processes, ensuring accurate contract documentation and timely performance data across projects. Strong communication, organization and MS Office skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word & Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading and telephone skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate client invoices in line with contract terms and schedules.
  • Manage collections, project budgeting and assist with A/P, time sheets and expense processing as needed.
  • Document and maintain contracts, including fee and budget data.
  • Provide timely contract performance data and help resolve financial issues with project staff.
  • Coordinate the project accounting system to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for creation of accurate client invoices in compliance with contract terms and accounting schedule.
  • Take responsibility for collections management and project budgeting, as well as backup assistance on coding and processing A/P, time sheets, and expense reports.
  • Conduct accurate contract documentation, administration and maintenance including fee and budget entry.
  • Work with section and project personnel to provide timely contract performance data and resolve financial issues.
  • Coordinate the project accounting system within the department and work with technical staff to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Enter project budget and funding based on information included in the contract documents and provided by Project Managers.
  • Ensure project accounting files have appropriate documentation and project reconciliation.
  • Assist multiple project accountants and other staff on a daily basis.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
  • Experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction Industry.
  • Local candidates preferred.
