Job summary

Aston Carter in Seattle, WA is seeking a Project Accountant to support construction & public works initiatives on a 100% onsite basis. You will partner with Project Managers and Operations to keep projects financially healthy from start to close.

You'll manage high-volume AP/AR, payroll and job costing, while using JD Edwards, Textura, Procore and Excel. This is a Contract-to-Hire role with a competitive hourly rate and potential long-term growth in a stable, nationwide firm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-volume Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Process union payroll and certified payroll reporting.
• Perform job costing, project reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
• Support month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare and review progress billings and lien releases.
• Process subcontractor payments and public works reporting requirements.
• Assist with audits, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with project teams to monitor project financial performance.
• Utilize JD Edwards, Textura, Procore, and Excel to support project accounting.

What You'll Do

As a trusted financial partner to Project Managers and Operations teams, you'll help ensure projects stay financially healthy and on track from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage high-volume Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Process union payroll and certified payroll reporting
• Perform job costing, project reconciliations, and general ledger activities

• Prepare and review progress billings, retention documentation, and lien releases
• Process subcontractor payments and public works reporting requirements
• Assist with audits, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Collaborate with project teams to monitor project financial performance
• Utilize JD Edwards, Textura, Procore, and Excel to support project accounting functions

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

3+ years of construction accounting experience

Strong Knowledge Of

• Construction AP/AR
• Job costing
• Progress billing
• Lien releases
• Public works projects
• Union and/or certified payroll

ERP Experience

• JD Edwards (preferred)
• Sage / Timberline
• Other major construction accounting systems

Advanced Excel Skills

• Pivot Tables
• VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Financial reporting and analysis
