Job summary

The Hunting project accounting role focuses on completing monthly estimates, revenue calculations, and variance analysis to support project profitability. You will work with finance leaders to close monthly results, reconcile inventory, and respond to audit requests while ensuring IFRS 15 compliance.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Finance/Accounting, 5+ years in cost or project accounting, and strong Excel/ERP experience.

Qualifications

• BS in Finance/Accounting or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years in cost or project accounting or financial planning.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly EAC (estimates at completion) and review with project managers.
• Complete monthly revenue recognition calculations and journal entries per IFRS 15.
• Review project costs vs. budget and ensure proper cost allocations.
• Forecast weekly project costs, invoicing, and revenue calculations.
• Monitor billing milestones and ensure timely collection.
• Assist with change orders, bids, and proposals as needed.
• Support IFRS revenue memos and provide data to auditors as required.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to complete monthly estimates to complete and revenue calculations, reviewing project costs as compared to budget and weekly forecasting. The Project Accountant will assist in monthly closing, inventory reconciliations, audit requests and variance reporting. The Project Accountant will work with the Business Unit Financial Controller, General Manager and Project Managers to ensure the projects are executed successfully.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly estimates at completion (EAC) including preparing the EAC workbook, analyzing, reconciling and review with assigned project manager to facilitate presentation to management team.
• Complete monthly revenue recognition calculation, prepare journal entries and ensure adherence to IFRS 15 contact regulations.
• Review project and facility costs as compared to budget to ensure costs are being allocated properly.
• Forecasting – prepare weekly project forecasts including costs, invoicing and revenue calculations.
• Monitoring project billing milestones and ensure they are being billed and collected in a timely manner.
• Assisting with change order costing and bids & proposals as needed.
• Assisting with review of new contracts to assist with preparation of IFRS revenue recognition memos.
• Assist with providing auditors with contract, EAC and revenue calculation information as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Required: B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting or related field.
• Required: Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting, project accounting, or financial & planning analysis.
• Required: Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
• Experience with ERP systems, Excel and accounting consolidation software.
• Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
• Must have excellent organizational skills
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and ERP systems.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.

• Experience with IFRS 15, over-time revenue recognition, percent complete accounting.
• Experience in a manufacturing accounting environment including inventory, standard costing, labor and overhead burden rates and project accounting.
• Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
• Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Work Environment/Conditions

• This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
• Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
• Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
• The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
