Job summary

Hunting-Energy-Services in Spring, TX is seeking a Project Accountant to complete monthly estimates to completion (EAC), analyze costs against budget, and support weekly forecasting and revenue calculations on manufacturing projects.

You will assist with monthly close, inventory reconciliations, variance reporting, and IFRS 15 revenue recognition, working with the Business Unit Financial Controller, GM and Project Managers to ensure projects are executed successfully.

Qualifications

  • Requires a B.S. Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting, project accounting, or financial & planning analysis.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Excel; accounting consolidation software.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports and contracts.
  • Experience with IFRS 15 and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly estimates at completion (EAC) and reconcile workbook with project manager for management review.
  • Complete monthly revenue recognition calculations and prepare journal entries per IFRS 15 requirements.
  • Review project and facility costs against budget to ensure proper cost allocation.
  • Forecast weekly project costs, invoicing, and revenue calculations.
  • Monitor billing milestones to ensure timely billing and collection.
  • Assist with change orders, bids & proposals as needed.
  • Review new contracts to support IFRS revenue recognition memos.
  • Provide auditors with contract, EAC and revenue calculation information.

The purpose of this position is to complete monthly estimates to complete and revenue calculations, reviewing project costs as compared to budget and weekly forecasting. The Project Accountant will assist in monthly closing, inventory reconciliations, audit requests and variance reporting. The Project Accountant will work with the Business Unit Financial Controller, General Manager and Project Managers to ensure the projects are executed successfully.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of monthly estimates at completion (EAC) including preparing the EAC workbook, analyzing, reconciling and review with assigned project manager to facilitate presentation to management team.
  • Complete monthly revenue recognition calculation, prepare journal entries and ensure adherence to IFRS 15 contact regulations.
  • Review project and facility costs as compared to budget to ensure costs are being allocated properly.
  • Forecasting – prepare weekly project forecasts including costs, invoicing and revenue calculations.
  • Monitoring project billing milestones and ensure they are being billed and collected in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with change order costing and bids & proposals as needed.
  • Assisting with review of new contracts to assist with preparation of IFRS revenue recognition memos.
  • Assist with providing auditors with contract, EAC and revenue calculation information as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Required: B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting or related field.
  • Required: Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting, project accounting, or financial & planning analysis.
  • Required: Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Experience with ERP systems, Excel and accounting consolidation software.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and ERP systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
  • Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Experience with IFRS 15, over-time revenue recognition, percent complete accounting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing accounting environment including inventory, standard costing, labor and overhead burden rates and project accounting.
  • Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
  • Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Physical Demands
  • This position requires an onsite presence to perform the essential duties.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in the office performing work on a computer. Employee will be required to walk and be on the manufacturing floor.
Work Environment/Conditions
  • This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
  • Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
  • Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
  • The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
