Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Project Accountant / Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This hybrid role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing project budgets, and supporting accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and experience with project financial management.

General Accounting Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all accounting activities.
• Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support the month-end closing process by preparing the necessary financial reports and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
• Prepare and enter recurring journal entries to reflect ongoing financial transactions.
  
  
  

Project Accounting Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain detailed project budgets, ensuring they align with organizational goals and financial constraints.
• Track project costs and expenses meticulously, providing regular reports to project managers and stakeholders.
• Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs, identifying trends and making recommendations for corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project teams to forecast future financial needs and assess overall project health.
• Assist in the development of financial models and reports to support project planning and execution.
• Assist the billing coordinator with preparing and issuance of client invoices, ensuring accurate billing in accordance with project terms and timelines.
  
  
  

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in the preparation of financial statements and reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards, including GAAP.
• Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Provide support during audits, supplying necessary documentation and explanations as required
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to identify and resolve accounting issues effectively and efficiently.
• Strong analytical skills with the capability to analyze financial data and identify trends that could impact project outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
