Job Summary:

Salas O'Brien is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team remotely. This role offers a great career opportunity within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in general accounting duties such as collections, project budget setup, and other team functions.
• Make decisions independently, handle multiple billing formats, and support team members.
• Report directly to the Accounting Manager.

Key Duties:

• Manage general ledger and financial reporting for all A/P aspects.
• Review AR aging reports weekly and contact clients for outstanding invoices.
• Maintain detailed collection notes and update client database.
• Verify and reconcile records and accounts.
• Collaborate with billers to resolve invoicing issues.
• Process AP checks and credit card transactions.
• Handle inter-departmental purchasing.
• Produce weekly accounting reports.
• Create POs and set up new projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of financial models and filing systems.
• Understanding of payment systems, project accounting, budgeting, invoicing, and payment terms.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and math skills.
• Ability to multitask professionally.
• Collaborative approach with all levels of staff and vendors.
• Experience with project accounting software such as Deltek (Ajera, Vision, Vantagepoint) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Qualifications:

• 2-10 years of experience in accounting, especially in architecture, engineering, or construction industries (preferred).
• Knowledge of Deltek software (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
