Job summary

AE Company and related Subsidiaries is seeking a Project Accountant to own project and AIA billing, oversee service billing, and provide broader accounting support as the company grows. This role collaborates with Account Managers, Construction Managers, and the Accounting Manager.

The position requires a 4-year accounting degree, experience in construction/project billing is preferred, and proficiency in Sage Intacct and Excel is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Construction accounting or project/service billing experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
• Knowledge of job costing, retainage, change orders, and percentage-of-completion accounting is beneficial.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or construction management systems.
• Ability to lead workflow, communicate clearly, and maintain accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage all project and AIA billing, including schedules of values, progress billings, retainage, milestone billing, and other contract-based invoices.
• Review service billing for time-and-material, quoted small jobs, and time-and-material not-to-exceed work prepared by the billing specialist before submission.
• Monitor accounts receivable, coordinate collection follow-ups, and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries reconciliations, month-end schedules, and audit and tax support.
• Provide backup support for payroll processing, accounts payable processing, and payment preparation as assigned, subject to appropriate review and approval controls.
• Complete other projects as requested by the Accounting Manager or CFO.
