Job summary

CFS in COLORADO is seeking a Project Accountant to join our growing team in a hybrid role. You will oversee project setup, billing, and closeout, ensuring accurate terms and timely invoicing, while working closely with project managers and operations to monitor performance and billing status.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of project accounting experience, strong AR skills, and proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in construction or project accounting with billing ownership.
• Experience with T&M, cost-plus, percent-complete contracts.
• Strong AR, collections, and cash application skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage project setup, billing, and closeout activities.
• Review contracts to ensure accurate billing terms and project requirements.
• Prepare progress billings, pay applications, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain schedules of values, WIP schedules, job costing, and project records.
• Partner with project managers to monitor project performance and billing status.
• Manage collections, cash application, and resolution of billing discrepancies.
• Support reporting, audits, and process improvement initiatives.

Project Accountant - Key Responsibilities

• Manage project setup, billing, and closeout activities.
• Review contracts to ensure accurate billing terms and project requirements.

Project Accountant - Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience supporting large, complex construction or project-based engagements, including ownership of billing, receivables, and project accounting activities.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and Operations teams to support project setup, contract compliance, billing accuracy, job costing, and timely project closeout.
• Experience billing T&M, cost-plus, percent-complete, and other contract types.
• Strong accounts receivable, collections, and cash application experience.
• Ability to work independently and quickly contribute with minimal training.
• Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system experience.
