Job summary

Genesee is seeking a tooling design engineer to own the end-to-end design of stamping dies, tooling, and fixtures. You will engineer safe, ergonomic solutions from concept through launch and lead external tool builds with cross‑functional teams on schedule.

You will plan tooling trials, validate performance, and optimize cycle times, tonnage, and material usage while documenting CAD models, drawings, and specs for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED plus engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years tooling design/manufacturing engineering.
  • Hands-on background with progressive stamping dies.
  • SolidWorks proficiency (Logopress preferred) with exposure to 2D design.
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to read and interpret complex prints.
  • Experience with tool and die build, debugging, machining, and setup.
  • Ability to analyze part failures and perform root-cause problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design of stamping dies, tooling, and check fixtures using CAD platforms.
  • Engineer solutions that meet safety, ergonomic, and operational standards from concept through launch.
  • Lead internal and external tool builds, track timelines, and keep projects on schedule.
  • Plan and execute tooling trials and validations; diagnose and resolve performance issues.
  • Optimize material utilization, cycle time, tonnage, and overall process flow for throughput and cost.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Tool & Die, Quality, and Production to achieve launch and production goals.
  • Create and maintain complete documentation: CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, and design guidelines.

Step into a day at GeneseeYou kick off the morning refining a progressive die concept in SolidWorks with Logopress, weighing tonnage and feed progression. By mid‑day, you are coordinating with an outside tool shop on build milestones and reviewing fixture details in AutoCAD.
