Job summary

IU Health is seeking an experienced Progressive Care/Step-Down RN to provide focused care for adult patients with intermediate-acuity needs. You will monitor status, titrate medications, educate families, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe progression of care.

The ideal candidate is clinically strong, calm under pressure, highly organized, and capable of rapid response to changes in patient condition.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN).
• Minimum of two years of recent acute-care nursing experience.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification within timeframe or current.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and identify condition changes; escalate promptly.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic, respiratory, neuro status, labs and other indicators.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, RT, pharmacy, case management and rehab teams.
• Educate patients/families on diagnoses, meds, discharge needs and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR.
• Support safety, teamwork, and respectful communication in a high‑acuity setting.
