Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care/Step-Down Unit. This role delivers patient-centered care for adults with intermediate-acuity needs, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe progression of care.

The ideal candidate is clinically strong, organized, and capable of rapid assessment and intervention in a high-acuity environment. BSN preferred; ADN accepted.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Step-Down RN experience.
• Current, active Indiana RN license (or compact).
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required or within designated timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments and identify changes in condition.
• Monitor and respond to cardiac rhythms, hemodynamics, respiratory status, labs, and other indicators.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy, pharmacy, case management, and rehabilitation teams.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and respectful communication.
• Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Prior experience in progressive care/step-down, ICU, or similar settings.
