TriStar Skyline Medical Center is seeking a Progressive Care Nurse Director to lead unit operations and care, ensuring patient safety and high-quality outcomes. You will oversee staffing, training, and standards of care while partnering with multidisciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and clinical excellence within a major Tennessee facility known for advanced stroke and trauma care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensure in TN or compact state.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of clinical leadership experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while adhering to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, assessment, and care appropriate to patients of all ages.
• Manage staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing leadership and support to staff.
• Ensure unit standards of care and complete competency checks.
• Maintain unit workflow with proper staffing levels.
• Coordinate all unit activities including safety, goals and operations.
• Handle complaints promptly and professionally.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to improve patient care delivery.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Progressive Care Director ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Director monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of related clinical leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
