Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Progressive Care Nurse Director for TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The role leads the Progressive Care unit, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and optimal staffing, while aligning with hospital goals and evidence-based practices.

The Director will manage staffing, safety, and interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring staff and driving quality outcomes in a busy, acute-care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with active RN licensure.
• BSN or higher degree required; MSN preferred.
• BLS certification current.
• 1–3 years of clinical leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Progressive Care unit to ensure quality care.
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, and training of new personnel.
• Monitor patient outcomes and ensure compliance with policies.
• Coordinate interdepartmental care and safety procedures.
• Provide coaching and guidance to staff and handle escalated concerns.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Director ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Director monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of related clinical leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
