Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Programs Section Manager for its Akron area team. The role provides direction and technical leadership to Assistant, Staff and Senior Contingent Workers and Employee Owners, with a focus on staff development and career progression.

You will oversee recruiting, field assignments, training and performance reviews while ensuring staffing aligns with project needs and billable goals. Strong communication and change-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Right-of-Way Solutions discipline from accredited program.
• Minimum five years related professional experience in Right-of-Way Solutions project execution including leading teams in the field or office, coordinating staff and/or project management.
• Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
• Must possess the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management and clients.
• Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage change.
• Candidates must possess strong project execution and interpersonal skills as well as a strategic perspective.
• Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and technical guidance for Assistant, Staff and Senior Level Program Contingent Workers and Employee Owners.
• Lead staff development, career pathing and retention efforts.
• Assist with recruiting, field assignments, development, training, and retention of staff.
• Interpret policies, procedures, and goals of organization to staff.
• Assist with staff planning, workload, and career development for staff.
• Contribute to evaluations of outstanding performers for potential conversions.
• Attend departmental and division meetings.
