Wayne State University is seeking a Programs & Events Intern to support the External Affairs Team in planning and executing Global Ties U.S. programs and events, including National Meeting, Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits, and online campaigns.
The role emphasizes strong project management, multitasking, and adaptability, with exposure to event planning software, marketing automation, and collaboration with international partners.
The Programs & Events Intern will support the External Affairs Team across a wide range of initiatives related to the planning and execution of Global Ties U.S. programs and events. These include signature gatherings for our member organizations—such as the National Meeting, Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits, and the National Programmers Workshop—as well as externally facing events and partnership campaigns.
This role is ideal for someone with strong project management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. The ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and adapt to shifting needs is key. Candidates should be comfortable using (or eager to learn) tools like project management platforms, event planning software, and marketing automation systems for email campaigns.
Through this internship, we aim to support individuals pursuing careers in event planning, program management, or international exchange and nonprofit leadership—offering hands-on experience in a mission-driven organization.
