Bull Run Library—a vibrant, high-traffic suburban branch—invites an innovative, service-driven individual to join our dynamic team as the Adult Programming and Outreach Librarian. About This Role:

  • Collaboratively designing, planning, and leading engaging programs and events for adult patrons, tailored to meet community interests and needs.
  • Developing creative and visually appealing promotional materials to support branch programming initiatives.
  • Identifying and facilitating outreach opportunities to expand the library’s presence and partnerships within the community.
  • Providing outstanding front-line customer service, including circulation support, reader’s advisory, technology assistance, and instruction in library resources and applications.
  • Rebalancing and weeding a portion of the branch’s physical collection
  • Contributing to branch and system-wide teams and committees that support and advance the Prince William Public Libraries’ strategic goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in library or information science.

Preferences:

  • Experience working in a public library setting
  • Experience planning and leading programs in a library setting or through a community-based organization
  • Experience providing technology assistance to patrons, including support with public and personal computers, mobile devices, email, internet navigation, copying, scanning and printing
  • Experience providing support to patrons using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), email, assisting patrons fill out online job applications.
  • Experience with collection maintenance practices, including weeding and rebalancing a floating collection

Special Requirements:The position may require travel to other branches within the system or to other county buildings. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. The work schedule includes working one evening every week and rotating weekends (both Saturday and Sunday) and may vary depending on the needs of the library. Bull Run’s hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Starting Salary Range:

$65, 910.00 - $79,408.88 / yearly
