Instruction and Student Success Librarian

Summary

The Instruction and Student Success Librarian will guide the development of innovative and responsive user-focused services that support student learning, success, recruitment, and retention through extensive collaboration with campus partners, librarians, and library staff. The Instruction and Student Success Librarian serves as a liaison to several academic departments and the First Year Seminar program. This role includes active participation in providing reference and information services, information literacy instruction, and outreach programs to support student learning and research.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Creates, defines, and leads an innovative information literacy program to support and enhance the College's learning outcomes.
  • Coordinates the library's instruction and reference services .
  • Ensures quality and consistency of online resources that support information literacy, including research guides.
  • Assesses and evaluates information literacy and reference services and resources.
  • Plans and implements relationships and activities that promote library collections and services and contribute to the intellectual climate on campus.
  • Cultivates relationships and serves as liaison to other departments and committees on campus to create and participate in initiatives that support student recruitment, academic preparedness, and retention.
  • Participates in the data analysis of internal and external statistical reports to improve and document work outcomes and project management.
  • Serves as a liaison to academic departments and assesses and develops the collection in those areas.
  • Provides reference assistance and supports library events during assigned days, evening and weekend hours.
Required Qualifications
  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science
  • Demonstrated understanding of the concepts, goals, and methods of information literacy instruction.
  • Experience in teaching, preference given to teaching undergraduate students.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively both independently as well as with others in a team environment.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of trends and issues in enrollment, support, and retention of college students.
  • Experience with outreach and promoting services to students.
  • Familiarity with a liberal arts environment.
  • Work experience in a library.
  • Interest and participation in relevant professional organizations
