Overview

Join to apply for the Programmer Analyst II role at Houston Community College.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate user request for new or modified programs, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and end users to identify current data access requirements and clarify software objectives.
  • Formulate plan outlining steps required to develop or alter program, using structured analysis and design to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Architect, build and implement end-user data access requirements.
  • Develop/enhance automated processes and applications using appropriate tools.
  • Write documentation including flowcharts and diagrams to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
  • Troubleshoot code and data errors and run data traces to diagnose and pinpoint problems and rewrite program to correct errors.
  • Read manuals, periodicals and technical reports to become better informed of ways to develop programs and solutions to meet user requirements.
  • Assist business analyst in developing test cases.
  • May provide technical assistance to end-users.
  • May monitor performance of program after implementation.
  • Provide time accurate estimates on programming tasks.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • 8 years work related experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
  • 5 years combined experience programming and developing applications in a web-based environment, relational database management systems, web development systems, and implementing automated information systems and leading projects from a technical perspective required
Licensing & Certification
