Evaluate user request for new or modified programs, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.
Collaborate with business analysts and end users to identify current data access requirements and clarify software objectives.
Formulate plan outlining steps required to develop or alter program, using structured analysis and design to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
Architect, build and implement end-user data access requirements.
Develop/enhance automated processes and applications using appropriate tools.
Write documentation including flowcharts and diagrams to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
Troubleshoot code and data errors and run data traces to diagnose and pinpoint problems and rewrite program to correct errors.
Read manuals, periodicals and technical reports to become better informed of ways to develop programs and solutions to meet user requirements.
Assist business analyst in developing test cases.
May provide technical assistance to end-users.
May monitor performance of program after implementation.
Provide time accurate estimates on programming tasks.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
8 years work related experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
5 years combined experience programming and developing applications in a web-based environment, relational database management systems, web development systems, and implementing automated information systems and leading projects from a technical perspective required
