Job summary

Orange County Government in Orlando, FL, seeks a software developer to write, test, debug, document, and maintain applications per specifications. Work under general supervision of the IT Project Leader; this is not a remote position and requires 24/7 on-call support.

Responsibilities include developing, enhancing, and testing software, writing SQL queries, and designing simple databases with guidance. Documentation, ongoing learning, and collaboration with customers are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, or related field with 2 years of problem analysis experience.
• Equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
• Knowledge of all SDLC aspects and ability to learn new systems quickly.

• Develops, enhances, installs, and tests software applications based on specifications with guidance from technical leads.
• Writes simple to moderately complex SQL queries.
• Designs and develops simple databases with guidance from technical leads.
• Performs moderately complex workflow analysis and suggests quality improvements.
• Analyzes and troubleshoots application problems with technical staff and customers.
• Communicates with customer contacts to improve efficiency and functionality of software.
• Provides on-call support as needed, 24/7.
• Documents applications, technical specifications and user manuals.
• Maintains current technology expertise.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

General Functions

This position is responsible for writing codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains applications/programs based on specifications provided.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the IT Project Leader or their designee and is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency and achievement of desired results.

This is NOT a remote/hybrid position. 24/7 on call support is required.

Representative Duties/Assignments

• Develops, enhances, installs, and tests computer software applications based on specifications with assistance from technical leads. Writes simple to moderately complex structured query language (SQL) queries.
• Designs and develops simple databases with assistance from technical leads.
• Performs moderately complex workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
• Analyses and troubleshoots application problems working with technical staff and customers.
• Communicates and interacts with customer contacts and functions as a liaison to increase efficiency and functionality of software applications.
• Provides on call support as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Documents applications, technical specifications and user manuals.
• Maintains current technology expertise.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or computer related field with two (2) years experience in problem analysis. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.

Preferences

Knowledge of all aspects of SDLC. Must be able to learn new systems quickly
