Job summary

Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is seeking a part-time Program Support to assist with recreation programs and front desk operations. The role includes supervising part-time staff, teaching youth sports classes, and ensuring a welcoming, inclusive environment for all patrons.

We offer flexible hours up to 29 per week, with Friday–Monday scheduling, and benefits like facility access and class discounts. CPR/First Aid certification required or obtainable on hire.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and two years of relevant experience in sports instruction or recreation education.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and operate assigned recreation programs, including sports classes and weekend programs.
  • Lead and supervise part-time sports staff, schedules, training, and coaching.
  • Teach youth sports classes for ages 2–15 (soccer, basketball, volleyball).
  • Monitor program effectiveness, gather feedback, and adjust programs to improve patron experience.
  • Lead or co-lead activities to ensure smooth transitions and inclusive experiences.
  • Support front desk operations: registrations, check-ins, and inquiries.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the program environment.

Program Support - Recreation

The Program Support position at Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is a regular, part-time position focused on supporting assigned recreation programs and assisting front desk operations. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service at the front desk, assisting with daily facility operations, and supporting recreation programs and activities based on department needs.


This position receives direct supervision from the recreation program coordinator, limited supervision from the programming staff, and may exercise lead direction over other part-time staff and volunteers.


Key components of the job include (but are not limited to):


  • Support the planning and daily operation of assigned recreation programs, including sports classes and weekend programs.

  • Provide lead directions to assigned part-time sports staff by assigning and overseeing daily class responsibilities, assisting with staff schedules, delivering training, and offering ongoing coaching and support to maintain a safe, engaging program environment.

  • Must be comfortable and confident teaching youth sports classes for patrons aged 2-15 years. This includes the sports of soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc.

  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness, gathering feedback, and adjusting programs to enhance patron experience and achieve established outcomes.

  • Lead or co-lead program activities as needed to ensure smooth transitions, active participation, and a positive, inclusive experience for all patrons.

  • Support front desk operations by assisting with patron registrations, check-ins, and general inquiries.

  • Actively promote, model, and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and access to create a welcoming and supportive program environment for participants and staff.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and two (2) years of relevant experience in sports instruction, recreation education, including lived experience.

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications OR ability to obtain upon hire.

  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record (see Driver Eligibility Requirements below).


Schedule

We are hiring for a regular part-time position that may be scheduled for up to 29 hours per week. Schedule is typicallyFriday-Monday within the hours of 8am - 8pm dependent on program needs.


Pay

The hiring range for this position is$27.84 - $31.38, based on experience and internal equity. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Driving Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to drive for THPRD, you must meet the following requirements:



  • Have fewer than 3 vehicle accidents within the last 5 years

  • Have fewer than 4 moving violations and/or vehicle accidents combined within the last 5 years

  • Have no more than 1DUIs within the last 5 years WITH the successful completion of a diversion program.


If you exceed the above requirements within the last 5 years, you will not be eligible to drive for THPRD. If the position requires driving, you would not be eligible for the position.


Note

Driving eligibility is based on moving violations only. Parking tickets, failure to have insurance, expired registration, and other administrative violations are excluded.
