The Recreation Coordinator, under general supervision, plans, organizes, and supervises staff, volunteers, programs, facilities, and operations within assigned recreation service areas. Assignments may emphasize athletics or community recreation based on departmental needs and may include sports leagues and tournaments, community and senior centers, aquatics and splashpads, user groups, concessions, specialty programs, and special events.
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate assigned recreation programs, facilities, activities, and special events;
- Select, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff, instructors, and volunteers, directly or indirectly;
- Coordinate services involving athletics, community and senior recreation, aquatics and splashpads, leagues, tournaments, user groups, concessions, and specialty programs, as assigned;
- Assist with preparing and administering operating budgets and monitor program revenues, expenditures, and financial records;
- Assist with grants, sponsorships, marketing, community outreach, and other program funding opportunities;
- Prepare program reports, evaluations, feasibility studies, performance measures, and other administrative records;
- Communicate with residents, participants, user groups, community partners, and City staff to coordinate services, receive input, and resolve concerns;
- Ensure assigned programs and operations comply with applicable City policies, safety requirements, and department procedures;
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, community organizations, and the public using principles of good customer service;
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, public administration, or a related field, with an additional one to three years of experience providing recreational or cultural programs and activities; or any combination of relevant education and experience. Public agency experience is preferred.
