Job summary

Special Olympics New York is seeking a Program Specialist for the Downstate region to support the state-level program by maintaining databases, records, and information systems.

You will work with the downstate program team, volunteers, athletes, and coaches to ensure smooth operations and data integrity. The role emphasizes inclusion and Unified sports in our mission, with four in-person days per week.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to train volunteers and athletes (≤140 chars)
• Computer, clerical and organization skills (≤140 chars)
• Knowledge and experience providing support to people with disabilities (≤140 chars)
• Understanding and experience with the mission of Special Olympics New York (≤140 chars)
• Proven ability in sports management, program planning and group dynamics (≤140 chars)
• Valid Driver’s License (≤140 chars)

Responsibilities

• Assist the downstate program team with volunteer management, coach education, outreach and competition.
• Contribute to planning, organization and implementation of the downstate program.
• Lead staff coordinating data entry for competition, athlete registration, and coaches certification (≤140 chars).
• Interact with staff, volunteers, vendors and agencies to disseminate materials and information (≤140 chars).
• Coordinate logistics for events including records, data, reports and information (≤140 chars).
• Support inclusive mission and Unified programming as part of core activities (≤140 chars).
