Special Olympics New York is seeking an Associate Director of Program - Competition to oversee program activities across the Long Island and New York City Regions. The role will coordinate training, competition, education, recruitment, and safety for athletes and volunteers.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree and experience in or with Developmental Disabilities, along with strong budgeting and stakeholder engagement.
POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Program - Competition
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Downstate - NY, NY
REPORTS TO: Director of Program, Competition
COMPENSATION: $67,000 - $72,000
In Person/Remote Status: In-Person required 4 days a week minimum.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Bachelor Degree from an accredited college/university in Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, Special Education, and/or related field or equivalent is desired. Experience working or volunteering in the field of Developmental Disabilities as a professional coach and/or Special Olympics volunteer is preferred. Familiarity with New York City boroughs and Long Island neighborhoods a plus.
This position is responsible for supporting, coordinating and monitoring all program related activities within the Long Island & New York City Regions. This includes Program developing and Program administration of all related functions including; training, competition, communication, education, recruitment and safety as they are relevant to Special Olympic athletes and volunteers.
In addition to the responsibilities identified above, may be requested or required to perform other duties and/or responsibilities, by management on a non regular basis.
Position requires working both standing and sitting. Must be able to lift and carry light loads (5-30 pounds for short distances, approximately one block).
Regular business hours are 9AM - 5PM. Travel assignments may be assigned. Weekend/evening duties required.
