Job summary

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County seeks a dedicated Meals on Wheels coordinator to ensure the smooth operation of the program and compliance with state and federal mandates. You will recertify eligible clients, track monthly metrics, and coordinate with the meal caterer to deliver nutritious meals to seniors.

The role requires an Associate’s degree and experience in geriatric services, with strong communication skills, local travel ability, and a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and one year of geriatric service experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources; ability to communicate and work with the public; local travel ability.
• Valid Kansas Driver’s License and use of a personal insured vehicle.
• Basic office computer and software knowledge.

• Responsible for the smooth operation of the Meals on Wheels program.
• Become familiar with State and Federal mandates that guide Nutrition services and ensure the program continues to meet those guidelines.
• Assess and recertify Meals on Wheels clients who meet state eligibility requirements; perform monthly tracking and reporting as required by the state.
• Work closely with the meal caterer and meal delivery entity to ensure the delivery of meals.
• Facilitate the nutrition needs identified by the Area Agency on Aging for eligible seniors and ensure meals are of premium quality.
• Assist in the overall mission of nutrition services, helping older adults choose to live independently in their own homes and community.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in gerontology, nursing, health, social work, counseling, human development, or family studies and one year of experience in the geriatric service field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources; ability to communicate and work well with the public; ability to travel locally on a daily basis or overnight to trainings as needed.
• Valid Kansas Driver’s License and use of a personal insured vehicle is required.
• Basic office computer and software knowledge.

Salary Range: $18.55–$26.57/hr.
