Financial Aid and Scholarships at Texas State University seeks afinancial aid professional to work on the office's Grants &Special Programs team.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid andScholarships, the Financial Aid Program Specialist is responsiblefor awarding financial aid and/or scholarships, managing specificfinancial aid or scholarship programs (including writing andmaintaining procedures), exercising professional judgment relativeto special circumstances, and occasionally counselingstudents.
Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and awarding financial aidapplications in accordance with federal, state, and institutionalguidelines.

Job Duties

• The Program Specialist will work to ensure the effectivemanagement of federal, state and institutional financial aid andscholarship programs, determine student eligibility by reviewingexception lists, award students according to university packagingparameters, and exercise professional judgment regarding financialand other documents related to mitigating circumstances. Thisposition is also tasked with keeping abreast of all pertinentfederal and state financial aid regulations and makingrecommendations to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant teamoperations.

Additional Information to Applicants

Occasional overnight travel,and work beyond normal 8-5 business hours may be required.Flexiblescheduled available, including part-time remote or four-day workweeks.
